Coronado Beach is located in on the Coronado Island just across the bay from San Diego, California and can be accessed by ferry or by car. Coronado Beach was voted as the Number Eight from the list of best beach in America for 2007 by Dr Beach, Dr Stephen Leatherman.
This beach is popular with both locals and tourists. It has plenty of activities to offer for everyone in the family. It has a very wide sandy area which makes it suitable for volleyball, kite flying, or just playing in the sand.
The most popular area on Coronado Beach is around the Hotel del Coronado. This makes finding a parking place nearby difficult. For a good parking spot, especially on the weekends, come early.
Parking in most areas is free and there is not entrance fee to the beach area.
Some of the Activities at Coronado Beach include:
Swimming (there is a lifeguard on duty during daylight hours)
Surfing
Walking
Room on beach for volleyball, playing catch, etc.
General beach activities such as sunbathing and visiting
There are restrooms and showers available to the public. No alcoholic beverages or glass of any kind allowed on the beach. There is food readily available nearby.
Some of the things on the down side of Coronado Beach include:
High lodging prices
Scarcity of parking near the beach area
Beach is subject to presence of red tides in the warmer weather
If you desire to do things other than water activities while at the beach you can choose shopping, biking, rollerblading, or other things such as sightseeing. This is one beach location that offers enough to keeping you from being bored.
