| Hamoa Beach is located just outside of Hana on West Maui. It was voted as the Sixth most popular beach in America in 2007 by Dr. Beach, Dr Stephen Leatherman.
Maui has 120 miles of shoreline which is home to 30 miles of beaches. Many are developed with picnic facilities, restrooms, and lifeguards.
Hamoa is a beautiful public beach which is covered with black sand and surrounded by natures beautiful green growth. The annual rainfall insures that the vegetation stays a bright green.
The beach shares some facilities with the Hotel Hana Maui and does not have lifeguards. There are picnic facilities available. There is no public beach parking so you have to park by the side of the road and take the steps down to the beach.
Body boards and snorkeling equipment are available for renting. Chairs are for hotel guests only.
The water at Hamoa is crystal clear blue and is not very rough most of the time. The waves can get large especially since there are no reefs to break them from the main water. The best time to swim is in the summer and early fall. It is best to monitor ocean conditions at all times.
Hamoa Beach is a beautiful tropical paradise and is suited for the entire family when safety precautions are adhered to.
