Incorporating the use of fallen leaves into crafts for Thanksgiving and the Fall season can be simple but very appealing and attractive. Gather some fallen leaves but be sure that they are still slightly moist and not completely dried out. They should still be partially pliable.
For these leaf projects you will need:
Leaves
Craft glue or glue gun
Scissors
Construction paper
Crayons
Typing paper
Place or name cards
Fold a piece of typing paper in half lengthwise and then fold again. Place a leaf under the right of the front layer and go over the leaf with slight pressure bringing out the texture of the leaf onto the paper. Remove the leaf and trace over the outside line to make it constant. If our plan to use the tracing as a place card, write the persons name to the left with a felt maker. Stencil the name if you desire. These will be perfect to use as place makers that the Thanksgiving table. Another way to use these are to use construction paper as the main paper and trace the leaves onto the typing paper and cut them out to glue on the folded construction paper. You can use several small leaves in different colors if you like.
Greeting cards
Use the same tracing procedures as above but make the two folds in the opposite directions. Trace the leaf on the card in the same manner and add your greeting to the face under or beside the leaf. Construction paper can be used for this project in the sam manner as described above. Use different colors of crayons and past the leaves on the face of the cards. Greetings or versus can be written inside of the cards. Poems or Bible verses placed inside make great greeting cards for any season or occasion.
Place mats
Place mats can be made with construction paper using the cut out leaf impressions to decorate. These are especially good to use for settings at the children's table.
