With the Independence Day celebrations for the United States just passed, I would like to look at some of the alarming facts that we face in the upcoming presidential election and economic realities.

I have just about come to the conclusion that with the shape that the economy is in at the present time almost anyone that can talk a good game and be a "first" could run for leader of our country.

Just remember when it comes time to cast your vote, this country's economy didn't get this way overnight and it will not be repaired overnight. I will probably see very little change in my lifetime.

If you are looking for someone rescue this country and get it back on the right track, it aint going to happen with this upcoming election.

It is so easy to find fault with the past leaders and give the impression, as one candidate does, that nothing is right in the US and almost everything needs to be changed. To me, wholesale changes are scary.

Take a close look at what has happened and most of it is not controlled by political parties or politics. It goes back to business leaders, management, and even the blue collar workers.

We have large company executives that are so obsessed with greed that the well-being of the companies are put in jeopardy. There are boards that give huge bonuses to undeserving leaders while the blue collar worker is laid off.

The prices of most products have skyrocketed for the consumer in the past several years leaving a deficit in most family budgets.

Credit card companies, banks, and mortgage companies have put themselves at great risk, some to the point of extinction by their own greed.

Greed is the main common denominator in most instances where the economy is being hurt and large companies are going under.

The questions is, do we opt for more governmental control as some of the candidates suggest or do we keep the rights that we now have and find other ways to right the economy?

What this country really needs is a true awakening to the morals and principles that this country was originally built on. Take the controls out of the areas that they don't belong in and let the majority rule.

To often and to the detriment of morals and common sense, rules are dictated by the not-so-silent majority.

A country without Godly leaders and beliefs will surely fail. Maybe this should be a major platform for the candidates.

Of all the countries that I can think of, the United States is the best and only choice that I need or want when it come to calling somewhere home.

Maybe he will find out something on his "soon to be" world travels that will necessitate another change.

Now that the economic stimulus package is history and the Federal Government had anticipated handing out more than $100 billion in rebate tax checks, lets look at the results and see how well the economy has rebounded.

The leaders of our country need to put their heads together and give the economic solutions a lot of thought and reasoning. It is time to put politics, parties, and "Bush" type attitudes aside and search for some of these true solutions. The American people are the losers when these attitudes and party differences prevail.
